I promised myself that when I got back to Georgia, I wouldn't just fall back into old patterns. I wouldn't slump back into uncharacteristic introversion, and I wouldn't try to fit back into places that no longer vibed with me. While I am grateful for the friendships I have been able to step back into sync with, today I am grateful for stepping out of the zone of comfort that is the familiar and attempting to make new connections and try new things.
I've always been a squirrel when it comes to hobbies, passions, jobs, and pretty much any other facet of life. I've tried on many hats, and I like it that way. My head is giant after all, so it can, in fact, carry many hats. And today, I branched out and tried a new one on. Will it be a good fit? I'm not sure. I think so. I did accidentally find myself in a group of four other Virgos so, that was a humorous coincidence. But whether or not it fits really isn't the point, the point is that I am grateful for the opportunity to simply try, and to meet some pretty cool people in the process.
They say growth doesn't happen in your comfort zone, which I've found to be true. But for me, the idea of living a full life can't happen while remaining only in the comfort of the familiar. There's so much out there in the world, so many people with different stories and experiences, so many new experiences to try myself, and that's why I want to continue to push myself into unfamiliar territory. I'm hopeful for even more opportunities to test my own limits (time to finally put these singing pipes to use, perhaps, haha) but in the meantime, I'm grateful for today, the opportunities it brought, and the people I met through the experience.
Go try something new, perhaps you'll surprise yourself.
